From Paris...

...to Orange County, California.

I'm trying to console myself after missing the most monumental party of all time, Alors Les Filles On Fete Noel [with Thomas Bangalter as a guest..] and I'm afraid the only way I can do that is to listen to Numero#'s "L'Ideologie Des Stars" over. and over. and over.

Happy to be home for a few weeks, but I miss Paris already.

Bzooz.

[art by Bert]

Get Pharrell & Naomi's new mix here at Fluokids. It's tested and proven; if you were in Paris today, on Line 1 or 4, or in and around le Marais or Bastille, chances are you saw me dancing around to this mix like a drunken fool.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, by the way. I'll spin a dreidel for all of you.

more shots from Kitsune/Fluokids, December 1

Today has been packing, cleaning, Desperate Housewives, Numero# - "L'ideologie Des Stars", TTC - "3615", and christmas shopping. Running around, running around, the best way to spend my last days, no?

Take care kids.

Adventures in the Beetroot Field @ Canvas 9/12/06

Regarding the photo of Casper's refridgerator, I want more than anything to have been responsible for creating "we satisfy panty fire".

This weekend was the Adventures in the Beetroot Field party at Canvas. The lineup was crazy and the people were even crazier. Enjoy my photos of the drugged up and the beautiful.

Casper and I woke up at roughly 4pm the next day, and went to the Lock Tavern for a sweet rockabilly band and pints.

THE WORLD IS LARGE AND I AM SMALL.

Bisous, amour, et tout ca,
Holly

Facebook is this really creepy movement of which I jumped on the bandwagon lately; it scares me and it confuses me. It alerts you when one of your friends changes their status from "Single" to "In a Relationship with So-and-so"...it alerts you when your friends comment on eachothers' profiles [not yours, mind you] and it alerts you every time a friend uploads a picture. Internet stalkerdom is becoming more and more acceptable and even encouraged. It's so delightfully disturbing that I can't look away.

I began reading some Voltaire in French and I'm enjoying it but I have one statement for the creaters of the French language, "We can do it if you erase the existence of the passe simple."

In other adventures of Holly observing the French culture like a true outsider, French TV? I can't understand why there are soap-operas and self-help shows on at prime-time and why people actually enjoy them. It's incredible, the French are brilliant when it comes to modern music and art but when it comes to commercial entertainment...I'm sorry. I remember watching an MTV-like countdown with Guillaume in a hungover daze the morning after Ososphere festival in Strasbourg, and marveling at the inhabitants of the top slots. Bob Sinclair? Tribal King [which I actually ironically love, rims on the wall and intense, shameless booty-shaking in the music video, unintentional genius] at number one? COUP DE BOULE at number two?!?!?!?!
Daft Punk vs. YYY - World Maps
Maybe a little unexpected.

Justin Timberlake - My Love [Linus Loves Remix]
Everyone has remixed this morsel of genius, but Linus Loves seems to turn everything he touches into gold; he's the King Midas of disco, if you will.

New Young Pony Club - Ice Cream (Thee Bang Gang Deejays remix)
I have heard the remixes of this song so much that I wasn't even able to identify the original in a club this weekend. HOW EMBARRASSING. el-oh-el.

Van She - Sex City (Nightmoves Remix)
This song is clearly on every blog that you read, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable.

Menomena - Wet and Rusting
Menomena Menomena Menomena Menomena. I just can't stress it enough.

Mondays.

The Books - Smells Like Content
There is always a song that ties in perfectly to your current moment, the song that you have heard dozens of times but this particular time, it clicks. It makes so much more sense, it defines you in that moment.

Mystery Jets - You Can't Fool Me Dennis [Justice remix]
You just kind of want to dance like Carlton during this clip.

Boys Noize - Feel Good TV Off
Just plain Good.

Max Richter - Horizon Variations
A little piano for the rain.

[i'm currently borrowing these songs, i'll get an upload service, don't you worry.]

Go on, put on those plastic garbage bags and puddle jump in the suburbs.

Strasbourg

Paris [obviously].
Laying around drinking pints in a bar [that was playing Justin Timberlake] at Bastille, drinking ourselves silly at this tiny piano bar, spending maybe 60 euros and dancing with Casper like a crazy person.

I'm obsessed with change.

My birthday week came and went. iPod Battle in Strasbourg chez Tim. Back in Paris, Dinner with Erik at the Kenzo restaurant. Drinks with Kiera, then Paris Paris for the Kitsune/Fluokids shakedown. A birthday well-celebrated.

Ha-ha-ha [regarding some of the people featured below].
